George Halas

George Stanley Halas, Sr. who is born in February 2, 1895 and died in October 31, 1983)
nicknamed Mr.Everything . 
Halas was born in Chicago in 1895, and learned self-discipline, business smarts and frugality through his family. After saving his money carefully, he attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign
 he attended the University of Illinois, playing football for coach Bob Zuppke, as well as baseball and basketball, and earning a degree in civil engineering.
 He also became a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He helped Illinois win the 1918 Big Ten Conference football title.

eventually earning a promotion to the New York Yankees, where he played 12 games as an outfielder in 1919
Prior to his final semester at Illinois, the United States entered the Great War (World War 1), and Halas enlisted in the United States Navy
Halas was assigned to Great Lakes Naval Base and ordered to organize great US Service teams 
in football and basketball.

Halas moved to Decatur, Illinois to take a position with the A. E. Staley Company, a starch manufacturer. He served as a company sales representative
In 1920, Halas represented the Staleys at the meeting which formed the American Professional Football Association in Canton, Ohio

Halas only person to be associated with the NFL throughout its first 50 years
