Glenn Scobey Warner (April 5, 1871 – September 7, 1954), most commonly known as Pop Warner
Glenn Scobey Warner was born in Springville, New York, on April 5, 1871. At the age of 21, Warner attended Cornell University and graduated with a degree in law Cornell University in Ithaca, New York
Warner began playing football, due to an unexpected meeting with the coach,
where he captained the football team
and he earned his nickname “Pop” for being the oldest player on the team. After graduating
Although Warner played football for Cornell from 1892 to 1894,
Warner married Lorraine Tibb, 1888 graduate of Ten Broeck Academy in the Town of Franklinville. In 1902, Warner played pro football for the Syracuse Athletic Club during the first World Series of Football, held at Madison Square Garden
He also played for the Syracuse Athletic Club
that Warner played in the very first professional indoor football game as his Syracuse squad upset the heavily favored "New York" team. During the Series, Warner was cut badly on the side of his head. While he laughed it off at the time,

Warner was hired by the University of Georgia as its new head football coach in 1895

his team lost four out of seven games during the first year. The second year turned out much better for Warner as he led his team to an undefeated season
He returned to Cornell in 1897 to coach, leading them to a 15-5-1 record for two years in a row
The following year, Georgia rehired Warner and the team had an undefeated season. While at Georgia, Warner also served as a head coach and then co-coach at Iowa State
He coached teams from two schools simultaneously on three occasions: Iowa State and Georgia during the 1895 and 1896 seasons, Iowa State and Cornell in 1897 and 1898,
